National Hummus Day

Hummus is one of those foods great for smearing on a savory breakfast sandwich all the way to having it with strawberries as dessert. That’s right! The hummus category has come a long way since it’s humble and scrumptious beginnings and we want to hop in on the fun of National Hummus Day to bring you some delicious facts:
- Hummus originated from Egypt
- It’s rich in B vitamins
- It’s a pretty well rounded plant-based protein with 8g per 3.5 ounces
- It’s a good source of dietary fiber coming in a 6g per 3.5 ounces
- There are different varieties of chickpeas
- Speaking of chickpeas they are pretty awesome even when not being used in hummus (roasted, on salads, falafel, plant based burgers, curries, cold salads, and the list goes on)
